A website can pass an automated check and still feel frustrating on a phone. The keyboard covers a button, a table extends beyond the screen or the cookie banner hides the main action. Useful testing starts with what a person wants to do, not whether all elements fit into a screenshot. Choose real tasks and follow them from start to finish.
Begin with the first decision
The first screen should make the offer, intended audience and next step clear. Do not hide the main benefit in an automatically changing carousel. Try the menu with one hand and confirm submenus work without hovering. The current page and way back should be understandable.
Read the offer as a newcomer
Keep price, billing period, taxes and includedions together. Essential information should not depend on a difficult tooltip. Let people compare plans without memorising off-screen columns. If a table genuinely needs horizontal scrolling, define that area clearly rather than allowing the entire page to slide sideways.
Use forms with the keyboard open
Check email, phone and password fields on a real device. The dialling prefix should not cover the number, and a password indicator should not overlap typed text. Errors must remain visible and lead back to the relevant field. Keep the action available without pinning it over information needed for the decision.
Test imperfect states
Try an empty cart, a long name, an error message and a slow response. These reveal limits hidden by short demonstration content. Test the cookie banner together with menus and forms. Acceptance and rejection controls should remain accessible rather than being pushed off-screen.
Avoid requiring precision
Tap with a finger, enlarge text and change orientation. Interactive areas need enough space and separation to prevent mistakes. Check contrast in bright light and feedback after tapping. A seemingly inactive button encourages repeated attempts, which important operations must handle without duplicates.
