Two offers with the same starting price may cover very different work. One provides only the space where a website runs, another includes building its pages, and a third requires several years of payment upfront. Before choosing, turn the offer into a list of services, responsibilities and due dates. That makes both today’s payment and the cost of continuing easier to compare.
Separate building from running
Building a website involves its structure, design, content and agreed functionality. Hosting keeps it available, while a domain provides its address. An editor subscription does not automatically include somebody writing copy or preparing photographs. Ask who performs each task and what you must supply. A lower cost may mean more work for you rather than the same service at a discount.
Compare totals for the same period
Record the initial payment, the period covered, applicable taxes and renewal amount. A price displayed “per month” may be an equivalent calculated from several years paid upfront. Compare the same duration and currency. Include setup charges, licences and payment processing costs if you run a shop. Do not assume that an introductory discount continues automatically.
Treat the domain as a business asset
Check the registered holder, who controls the account and where notices arrive. Ask about renewal costs and moving administration if you change suppliers. Rules differ between extensions and registries; for a .ro domain, consult RoTLD information and your registrar’s terms. Keep contact details current. Even automatic renewal depends on a working payment method and the service being configured correctly.
Define what help includes
Technical support may restore access to hosting without covering design changes or adding products. Agree separately on revisions, updates, backup restoration and urgent work. For content changes, establish whether there is an included allowance or a quotation for each request. “Support included” should not become an assumption that every future piece of work is free.
Check the cost of leaving
Ask what you can export: files, databases, images and content. Some editors provide less freedom to move than an application installed on your own hosting. Record cancellation conditions, the point when service stops and the time available to retrieve data. Do not leave an export until the final day. Price matters alongside the control you retain over your business.
